ROCKY BALBOA

i often get laughed at becos i have many repeats of the ROCKY theme songs in my MP3 player....something like 20 repeats! i use alot of my MP3 during my run training .i find the music stimulates the mind and helps me keep focused.

yesterday, i watched ROCKY BALBOA. it is not as good as the earlier series but i still enjoyed it very much.
it got me pumped up n thinking how i m going to approach Hawaii. the race is only 6 months away.....

i like the ROCKY movies because they inspire me.

they teach me :

1) to dare to dream
2) to have a goal n work towards it step by step
3) to work hard for what i want
4) to fear not
5) to not give up cos" it ain't over until it's over"
6) to learn to think like a champion
7) not be afraid of failures n obstacles
8) to do things with passion
9) to believe in myself
10) to trust my own instincts
11) to not underestimate myself."the only limit is the one u set yourself"
12) to step outside the comfort zone." if u never try,u will never succeed."
13) to cherish my loved ones.cos it's nice to have someone share your journeys in life.

it sounds soppy i know...but i have gone through some bad patches in life and somehow i managed to turn things around becos i believe in myself.

i hope this will help anyone going through a bad time.

sweet potato

one of my favourite staple foods is the sweet potato.not only is it very healthy(high in vitamins n minerals), it also tastes delicious n has a low GI unit.

usually i go through several of these throughout the day..it's a great source of sustained energy especially during my long training days.
had it for tea snack today...one too many as usual!

i would like to introduce GARDASIL to all ladies above 18 years.

today, Dr.Lorraine (my beautiful soon-to be a-mum sister) gave me my 1st dose.prevention is better than cure!

it felt like my birthday today.
i fetched Pa n Ma from the airport this evening.they have just come home from KL.
as usual, they bought me some gifts!

i received a pair of very comfortable CROCS slippers ,some black gold mangoes, and a pickled Guava (see last pic...it looked like an apple).

the Stolen Kiss

please meet a lovely family the Ainsworths. Peter, Cheryl n Barny.
it was an absolute pleasure to know them.
they have been sailing all the way from Perth ,Australia, to several countries b4 docking for several weeks at Sutera Harbour marina.

their boat is 47ft and named the "Stolen Kiss".

it has a kitchen,a living room and two rooms underneathe the decks.it looked very cosy n comfortable.

today, i had to wave goodbye to them becos they were sailing off to Kudat.i wished they would stay longer.

sailing is a wonderful way to see the world. i wish i knew how to sail a boat.

A day at the ZOO

Sabah recently had a soft launching of its 1st Safari styled zoo which is called the LOK KAWI WILDLIFE PARK.
after work Saturday, i visited the park.
to my surprise,although still not fully completed,it was still quite a neat place ,showcasing some beautiful animals.

there were tigers which were my favourites.cos they were regal, graceful n intelligent.thethe power orang hutans were mischievous n the ostrich were downright ugly birds!

whilst watching the orang utans, i was very fortunate to meet this zookeeper who was also in charge of the monkeys.he is an expert, having worked in Sepilok for 6 years.

he told me:
1) orand utans canot swim, hence they surround their area with a small pond.with some chain ropes for the monkeys to hold onto.so even though there is no fence,they canot escape becos they canot swim across the pond.
2)at 19 years,the face of the male orang utans grow sideways.
3)the innate powerof their arms n legs r 4 folds that of human beings...hence they r able to swing from one place to another with such
ease.

i learned many new information about so many animals today.it was great fun!

i will definitely bring Ying Ying to visit the park during her next visit to Sabah.

Borneo Oasis Wellness Centre

last nite, Barny n i planned to go Little Italy after gym.but Barny said, "Fiona, can u fetch me for dinner after my complimentary massage from LEE?" hey...life is unfair, how come i never get a free massage??? ...just at that moment, i met LEE (see 3rd pic, wearing balck shirt n arms crossed n wearing glasses) who said " Fiona, why don't u come along n try my new massage parlour ?".... never the least shy, i replied "OKKKKKK!!!!"

the Borneo Oasis is situated right outside Grace ville. the interior had a beautiful, peaceful n relaxing ambience.after soaking our feet in a tub of lemon water soaked with some flowers n an introductory ginger lemon tea( i had to drink it all politely....that was Hard cos i hate ginger!) , we had a relaxing 1hr body massage.

the nite ended with a feast at Little Italy.we had baked aubergine with cheese n a large vegetarian pizza. Yummy!

Apple Cider vinegar

APV was the cure for my stomach ailments. i thought i would post this so i can spread the news of its benefits to all the people who read this blog.......how come i still get "0 " comments all the time????hahahaha!!!!

for many years, i suffered from bad gastric(happened almost everyday),bloatedness after every meal n GERD(gastroentero-reflux disease).although it's not life threatening, it was bloody &&^&^$#^&* irritating n abit debilitating. i din't enjoy my meals ,even though my appetite was still good.

until i tried APV!!

it says a teaspoon 3 times a day on the label.but i found i needed 2 big tablespoons daily,once early morning n once midday.

i feel fresh,full of energy,smooth bowel system n all my ailments dissapeared.wow! i used to spend alot of money buying gastric maalox tablets,antacids,cuplatons,motiliums,u name it. nowaday,just good ol' APV.

my new running gears

I saw a new set of running vest n shorts at Nike that kept waving at me the other day.it said"buy me,buy me!" n i didn't have the heart to turn it down so i bought it immediately.

i love Nike gears.but it can be quite expensive. wish it's my sponsor.

Powerbar Triple Threat

Powerbar launched a new product the Triple Threat sometime end of last year.

it's absolutely the BADDEST, most bootilicious Powerbar to date....well apart from my old time favourites Vanilla crisp & Cookies & cream flavours...

i have been making the ever slightest excuse so that i can eat it...whist watching TV, after dinner as dessert, whilst waiting for my car to get washed, whilst ironing my clothes....that is well BAD!

well,it's time to get going again.i think i had a good recovery this time. i enjoyed my time out & i m so looking forward to working out again.
yesterday, i did all three sports.easy swim 3k..easy ride 40k ...easy run 10k.
today,shorter but with intervals in swim/bike/run.

my legs felt some spring back...cool! they felt like dead log for many days after the marathon.

i love my TREK.cos i finally found my most comfortable seat position.
the saucony was my trusted friend.i din't wear any socks for the race & only had 3 blisters.
it gives a lovely cushion n the fit feels great.

An amusing story

a few nights ago, i attended a dinner function.
i was introduced to a gentleman Datuk Wilfred Lingam who told me he worked under Pa during the Berjaya era as his political secretary.

Anyway,we got chatting away.then he said,"Fiona, i must tell u this joke that i always remember whenever i think of your Dad."

Datuk Lingam said one day he accompanied Pa to visit one of the interior kampungs.the car was driven by Pa's driver.On reaching the kampung,the driver came out of the car to open the door for the minister Datuk Lim. At that moment ,the village head & all the kampung folks came out to welcome the entourage.

however,the village head mistook the driver for the minister & placed the garland of flowers around the driver's neck!! whoahahahahaha!

Datuk Lingam said the driver kept the garland as a souvenir .cos he never in his life felt as grand & as important as at that moment!

Go vegetarian!

despite not exercising much after Langkawi, i didn't put on weight. still at 50kg. woohoo!!
this is abit unusual cos i usually gain weight very fast if i don't workout...partly due to my very slow metabolic rate..the other more probable reason being my very good appetite! i m always hungry...triathlon is really the perfect sport for me..cos i can allow myself quite a lot of food!

well,Pa & Ma have been away in KL for about a month.which means no gourmet food everyday. i have been cooking alot myself lately.mainly simple dishes and mainly vegetarian like tonite's dinner. i actually feel more energetic with less meat in my diet.

friend i met at Langkawi. Wanabdulhalim
Wanmansor.
he was one of the many langkawi crews n vonlunteers
who worked day n nite for more than a week
to ensure our race went smoothly.

Online Games

i will never be a computer wizard like Melv.
it's just too complicated!

i remember on several occasions Pa was so annoyed with me cos i accidentally deleted the movies he spent days downloading from Azureus. "Tze Ling, ni yao chi se wuo le !!!!!" and i could see fumes coming out from his ears.

or the time when i had to call up Melv because i thought my computer was spoilt cos i couldn't get it to operate. " Fi, try off then on the main switch back..." n it worked! "Dope !" as Homer Simpson would say.hahaha

Melv's IT company has designed and will be launching a new online game in 2 weeks' time.

Ying's 1st visit to the dentist

that was a year ago.this year, she allowed me to do polishing. she has nice teeth,cos she doesn't eat much junk food.

Cameron n I went for a walk in the garden this morning.

later i made breakfast for both of us.
nothing feels better than a glass of fresh orange juice in the morning.there were still many mandarin oranges left over from chinese new year.so i juiced 3 using Pa's juice extractor.

breakfast was egg fried rice topped with ikan bilis....but i was still hungry after that...what's for lunch please??

the three amigos

it's usually only Chinese New Year that our whole family gets together.

Ma n I had a browse over the CHinese New Year photos yesterday n noticed how alike the 3 "brothers " were...the youngest standing at the centre of course !

i think Melv looks more like Dad.same big mouth,broad nose....Gav is a skinnier version cos he recently lost 6kg by going to the gym.wow!
